The Magic to Communicate
About the project
From 31 July to 9 August 2015, in Kranevo, a small town on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, an exchange seminar for speech therapists on autism spectrum disorders, “The Magic to Communicate”, was organised.
A total of 50 participants from five countries — Bulgaria, Romania, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia — took part in the project to share experiences of working with children and young people with autism spectrum disorders. For nine days, participants listened to and watched lecturers’ presentations, took part in group work, shared their knowledge and listened to the opinions of speech therapists from other countries. Depending on the task, the size and composition of the groups changed, and each piece of work was presented to all project participants. It was interesting to visit the Karin Dom children’s centre in Varna, where participants learned about the experience of its specialists in working with children with autism spectrum disorders, their parents and teachers.
This year, Latvia was represented in the Erasmus+ project for speech therapists by members of the Latvian Language Agency (LLA) not only from Riga and its surroundings, but also from Daugavpils, Liepāja and Ventspils.
Participants became richer by sharing; they made new friends and like-minded people not only abroad, but also here in Latvia. It was a pleasure to meet again and to spend time with sincere, positive people who love their work, family and country.
VAS participated in the exchange seminar.
